Holy Mother, on the cross Christ entrusted us to you as your children. Today we join with you in praising Him.

The Need for a Teacher
When (Jesus)...saw the vast crowd his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were the sheep herd, and he began to teach them many things. Mark 6:34
Today, in the Gospel reading for Mass, we hear the familiar account of Jesus tending to his flock, and the miraculous story of the loaves and the fishes. Jesus was not only making the disciples aware of the need for the food for the hungry people, but his actions showed a critical need for the shepherd to take care of his flock by teaching them as well. Translates into today's culture as leadership.
Last night I read some of the hundreds of remarks in: Are we Facing the Death of the Vine? Many disparaging, negative, and condescending posts which reminded me of today's teaching in the Gospel. These seems to be plenty of room for this teaching as we go forward with the progress of the many changes that appear to be in store for us here on the Vine.
Whether it's here on the Vine, or in our daily lives, or in our churches Jesus calls us to lead through his example
